The Contortionist to destroy Australia city by city in November 2011

While hardcore punk may be the sound that rules the day in progressive metal band's THE CONTORTIONIST hometown of Indianapolis, it is the band’s signature brand of forward-thinking heavy metal that has made them stick out as hometown favourites.

THE CONTORTIONIST's 2010 released album titled Exoplanet, is a progressive metal mammoth.
Featuring bursts of space and atmosphere, underscored by intense sonic emotion and boldness. For every bit of progression and aura the band offers up on Exoplanet, comes an equal and unforgiving onslaught of heaviness. Just when heavy metal had seemed to reach a ceiling on how punishing a sound could get, THE CONTORTIONIST raise the bar even higher.

National support comes in the form of Newcastle’s THE STORM PICTURESQUE, a metal powerhouse moving from strength to strength. An unfaltering work ethic has secured the young outfit a large following across the country, no doubt solidified through excessive touring of both mainland and regional Australia. Putting the finishing touches on their debut full length, a promising future lay ahead for the group.

Northern Lights are bringing THE CONTORTIONIST over in November 2011, and we will see them set about destroying Australia city by city. Anyone craving experimental heaviness will not be disappointed.

Their recent full length album Exoplanet is available in Australia through Riot!
