Bane of Isildur parts ways with Bass Guitarist

Australia’s self proclaimed triumphant war metallers, Bane of Isildur, have today announced the departure of long-standing bass guitarist Ray McGill from the outfit.

Following seven years as part of the Sydney-based quartet, Ray has found himself unable to meet the increasing commitments within the band, citing his personal and professional circumstances as the reason behind his exit from the outfit.

Ray’s last show with Bane of Isildur will be as part of this year’s Bastardfest during the Sydney leg of the festival, scheduled for September 10th.

Full statement:

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from Bane of Isildur. After 7 years with the band, obviously this is not something I do lightly. Ultimately I have come to a point where, due to my personal and professional circumstances, I can no longer meet the increasing commitments that a band like Bane requires to continue to move forward, and as such can no longer be part of the band without holding it back.

“I would like to thank Aaron [Worboys - vocals, guitars], Shea [Cramer - guitars], David [Pietersz - drums], and all past members of the band, for the good, the great and the bad experiences we've shared being part of the same band, on the road, in the studio and on the stage. I'd also like to thank all the 'old mates' I've met along the way, some of the finest men and women one could hope to meet and drink with in their life, our manager, Sarah, for helping out in all the areas that aren't covered when you learn an instrument, Jay from ProMusic Australia for gear hook ups with BC Rich Guitars, all the bands I've be fortunate enough to share a stage with, and finally I'd like to thank the fans everywhere around the world. From the maniacs in Tokyo, to the regulars in Sydney, at the end of the day, the thing I will miss most is that 40 minute adrenaline rush that is being on stage for your entertainment.

“So, having said all of this, Bastardfest is coming to Sydney September 10, it will be my last appearance on stage with Bane of Isildur. My final battle approaches, but the war machine will rage on!”

Bane of Isildur released their debut, self-titled EP in 2006, with 2010 seeing the outfit self release their first full-length effort, entitled Black Wings.
