UNITOPIA First Ever Australian Tour Announced!

Having recently returned from a European headlining tour which saw them visit the UK, Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, progressive rock act Unitopia has announced its first ever tour of Australia beginning this September!
Touring in support of their latest full length effort, Artificial, the forthcoming tour will see the internationally acclaimed outfit sharing stages with Anubis, sleepmakeswaves, Toehider and more as support over the four-date run through Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.
Since its formation in the mid 90’s, Unitopia became the only Australian act to ever sign a deal with one of the biggest prog. record labels in the world, InsideOut Music, with a roster boasting the likes of Devin Townsend, Spock's Beard, King's X, The Flower Kings, Symphony X, Beardfish, Enchant, Frost, Pain of Salvation and more.
Apart from being dubbed as Best Album by ProgRock.com radio and International Independent Radio [AiiRadio.net], Unitopia's 2010 release Artificial was additionally nominated for Best Foreign Album and Best Production by ProgAwards in Italy.
Unitopia has donated the use of their songs in support of numerous charitable causes, including the ‘Songs For Haiti’ and ‘Stomp Out Cancer’ releases. They have also donated proceeds from shows to the Childhood Cancer Foundation. The band’s latest endeavour is the Bee Aware Now campaign, whose organisation is preparing to promote the cause with a worldwide tour in 2012 by their ambassadors Unitopia.
Unitopia’s song “321” is a tribute to the ordeal and eventual rescue of the Beaconsfield miners. The band gained nation-wide exposure with a segment on 60 Minutes and performed to an audience of 3,000 people at the one year anniversary memorial in Beaconsfield, Tasmania.
The October 1st Sydney show will be part of the closing weekend of the 2011 Sydney Fringe Festival www.thesydneyfringe.com.au. Joining the band in Sydney for this special performance are locals Anubis and sleepmakeswaves and Melbourne prog legends Toehider.
