Einherjer Reveals Details of New Album 'Norrøn'
Norwegian Viking metallers Einherjer have announced that the release date of their comeback album, entitled Norrøn, has been set for September 9th through Indie Recordings.
Recorded at Studio Borealis, production was handled by Einherjer's founding member Frode Glesnes and mixing duties covered by Matt Hyde [Slayer, Moster Magnet], the new album comes eight years after their fourth studio album, Blot, released in November 2003.
Drummer Gerhard Storesund commented:
"Nørrøn has the quality to send you on a musical journey where your present dies and all your senses starts to relive the music. Where you are plunged into a life of forgotten wisdom, beliefs and forces. Where all that was lost and taken has been resurrected. Where you stand steadfast on Norse ground, calling for revenge from your heathen heart.
"This is an album that has caused much joy and despair in the creative process. I hope and believe all the blood, sweat and hard work reflect and colour our relentless pursuit of creating something beautiful, original and epic, and at the same time giving you the raw and attacking feeling of the real Viking metal spirit.”

Norrøn track listing:
- Norrøn Kraft
- Naglfar
- Alu Alu Laukar
- Varden Brenne
- Malmting
- Balladen Om Bifrost
Einherjer disbanded in 2004 after the release of their album Blot through Tabu Recordings. Gone until 2008, when the band announced their return to the live scene, and in 2009 played Wacken, Ragnarock, Kaltenbach and some selected dates on the Paganfest 09 tour.
