CENTREDSELF announces new frontman
Sydney metal band CENTREDSELF has been searching for a replacement frontman since the departure of founding singer 'Chris' back in 2009. With the several months of downtime CS has recently managed to find themselves a new frontman SCOTT MARCUS.
"This is one of those “Do You Want the Good News, or the Bad News First?” situations.
Let’s kick off on the low note and work our way up from there, shall we?
After almost two years, Dan has decided to depart Centred Self to pursue another project. As a founding member his contribution to the sonic, and not to mention personal, dynamic of the band was unmistakable and he definitely helped establish Centred Self’s sound and presence in the Sydney circuit. Unfortunately, the search for a vocalist left a lot of time for each of us to pursue other projects to keep the fingers and limbs warm and while we all returned to the studio a number of times, Dan has decided to continue with Havoc, which is more representative of where he’s at right now.
We can’t speak highly enough of Dan. Whilst we’re devastated to see him go we thank him for his contribution to CS, and wish him and his bandmates the best of luck.
So, onto the good news…
We were hoping to keep this for some sort of announcement, but figure you’re going to find out anyway – plus you’re going to start hearing demos up on this page in the coming weeks while we find a new bassplayer! – but we’d like to introduce Scott Marcus to you all!
Everyone, Scott.
Scott, everyone.
Scott spent a number of years playing in SA-based rock/alternative/funk quartet Please Be a Goat, but now takes up the mic for CS. And man, what a set of lungs. We can’t wait to bring this guy out on stage and parade him in front of you all. Occasionally, we may even take off the gimp mask and let him sing a few notes.
We’ve been working with Scott for a few months now and all our old tunes have had new life breathed into them – they’ve never sounded better. There are also a few new songs in the works, and it’s some of the most exciting music we’ve made to date. Some heavy, melodic, effed-up-timing, shit be goin’ down.
So, despite a few set backs, the loss of a brother and the gain of another, we’re going strong. Keep an eye out for more updates and demos and we’ll hopefully be on the stage before the year is out.
As always, thanks for your patience and support.
Ohh… And for those four, five or six-stringers out there, if you’re interested in taking up bass duties, email centredself@hotmail.com. We’re looking for someone who can write – add to songs, not simply pluck away at the root note; with live experience being preferable, but not essential. Rehearsals twice a week, with a view to be playing gigs within a few months, and an EP shortly after."
