Staci Grim 'Kill Off Your Loved Ones'
There seems to be a never ending queue of emerging solo artists trying to make a lucky break in to today’s music industry, but none of them stand out as prominently as Austin based hardcore/punk musician Staci Grim.
With the release of Staci's debut album 'Kill Off Your Loved Ones', it is evident that a maturity has flowed into Staci's music which has most likely been caused by the experience gained from playing for established bands such as Wednesday 13 and AntiProduct.
Staci's album has been a couple years in the making which gave him to time to release a self-titled EP, to keep us all from losing interest. By releasing an EP, Staci has ensured that the all important debut album wasn't rushed and this has given him the opportunity to create a unique sound which is best described as a combination of Wednesday 13 and Industrial/Metal outfit Psyclon Nine.
From the first note in the opening track Introduction, right through to the end of the 13th track Ghost Of The Enemy, 'Kill Off Your Loved Ones' showcases Staci Grim's overall prowess as one of the most talented emerging artists in the genre today.
The thing which stands out the most is that while Staci's music isn't what you'd call mainstream and therefore will mean he has to work harder to break into the business, he stays true to who he is and isn't afraid to release his own brand of music.
Through his self-titled EP, we became familiar with tracks such as Razorblade Sex and Infected, but the quality of these tracks is overshadowed by the sheer class of new tracks like Shattered and The Darker Side, which are perfect examples of Staci's unique style of music, from his constant high pitched screams to his fast drumming and rhythmic guitars.
While being accredited with everything from vocals, guitars, drums, mixing and engineering on the album as well as managing a record label, Staci is quickly building a name for himself as one of the emerging dark-horses of the US hard/rock music industry.
Staci has just finished a short tour with Trashy and the Kid and is coming to the end of his solo tour which has seen him once again accompanied by backing band The X-Rated.
