Mercury Sky announce new EP ‘Infra’, release single ‘Nausea’ + Tour Dates Revealed

Sydney’s Mercury Sky are back with new music – and though the single is called ‘Nausea’ – it won’t make you nauseous. It’s the first single from their forthcoming ‘Infra’ EP. The EP will be released into the world on September 22 and this first single will become available to purchasers from this Friday – when the EP goes live for pre-order in iTunes – the single will be streaming at Spotify on Friday as well.

Add to that, they are embarking on a tour straight after the EP’s release that takes in Gosford, Newcastle, Wollongong, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from September to November and Mercury Sky all of a sudden are busy as for the rest of this year. Like their namesake Mercury, tickets are sure to move fast.

New single ‘Nausea’ summarises the band’s intentions in creating a piece of work that is more diverse and more intense than they have done before. The lyrical content fundamentally grapples with the principles of existentialism as implied by an observer who feels a self-described ‘nausea’ and begins keeping a journal in an attempt to alleviate the feelings they are having. As a result, they find themselves voraciously contemplating every aspect of their relevance and consequences of their presence as well as the alleged construct that is their existence to alleviate the feeling. Loosely based off the Sartre novel of the same name, it serves as an interpretation that many may be able to relate to in simply feeling overwhelmed by or lost in feelings.
